Don't drunk blog this holiday season
I don’t know about you, but the holidays are definitely my time to go light on the blog posts. Traffic drops too, from my experience. But is it really good to go “dark” this time of year? Here’s Beth’s take on the subject:
I’ve got clients that are considering a blackout period in their editorial calendars. But is that really a good idea? You might think no one is reading but you would be wrong. Don’t you know that people can only take so much family time before they’re in withdrawal from work? Nope, it isn’t just you. They will tune in just to get a taste of their normal reality. However, there are some things to think about:
1. People may be drinking
2. People may be taking a quick glimpse from their iPhones or iPads
3. People are probably in relaxation mode
What all these things tell you is that for the holiday weekend you should keep it light. Post a Wordless Wednesday, write something that’s fast to process, make it funny. Just don’t black out a spot on your calendar and try write your posts in advance . Your posts won’t be as entertaining as you think they are after a few glasses of cabarnet.

We are a little sincere when we are in a state of mild alcohol

If they decide to go drunk then maybe they should consider not blogging AT ALL. Who knows what goes in our heads when were drunk. It could do some damage if we accidentally do something crazy while we’re drunk.
So stay away from the computer on holidays.

Don’t drink and blog either. Might forget what you write and post something you probably shouldn’t have.
