Would YOU use this wire service?
I got this email from a service provider claiming to be the ‘best online newswire from small business” I know what I think is wrong…let’s see how many things we can point out. Would YOU use this service? What can we learn about email marketing from this example?
(FYI, I’ve NEVER used this one)
Recently we have been receiving an increasing number of comments from SBWire members like yourself regarding issues they are having with the press release submission process on SBWire. Please know that we are fully dedicated to making SBWire easy-to-use and customer feedback is one of the most important parts of our development process.
We would like to know if you have had any issues with the press release submission and order process?
If so, please let us know what the issues were and how we can improve. You can do so by replying to this email.
Additionally, you may be aware that we are working on adding many new search engine optimization features to SBWire. Below is a list of many of these new features. Are there any features you feel we are missing?

Yup, always good to point out your errors and mistakes to “prospects” before they even use the product!
Also, as a search engine marketer, I find it humorous that they point out their “new search engine optimization features” for their obviously lacking wire service. If I want to distribute a press release, I’ll use a trusted wire service like BusinessWire or PRWeb that have been using these SEO features for quite some time now. It’s like saying that you are trying this “new thing” call social media, or that “nearly 1,000 hits” marks success for a viral marketing campaign.

Interesting approach.
Yo Bonnie, honey, babe…
We suck, Everybody says so. Ok, pile it on, what do you think?
We don’t know if you’ve ever used our service because our CRM is not sophisticated enough to link your email to our client list, but since it is just a numbers game anyway, chances are you’re a client.
Tell us how we suck because we’re too busy or incompetent to listen for ourselves. We kinda don’t know how.
But we think we know what you people are complaining about and here is a list of old stuff that we should have been doing the whole time. We’ll just call this stuff new!
Anything we missed? That cover it all? K, we good?
Not really gonna ask for your business or offer you anything for your time. Everyone has a ton of extra time just lying around anyway, so it would have gone to waste.
Peace out.

To me, it’s an email about how they’re trying to improve. So they probably shouldn’t have misspelled the first word in the dang message. “grettings”

oh my..first of all, yes, they would lose me with “grettings”. What service could they possibly provide me if they can’t even manage to run spellcheck? I’ve seen others that use the “I’m goign to trick you into reading because you might not realize you’re not a client” tactic. Sorry, but I also know what I’ve signed up for. I’m more likely to assume that whatever I’ve received got to me by mistake and press delete before even getting through the first paragraph (and that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt. Their “yes we suck, but we’re trying to get better” approach also wouldn’t give me much confidence.

Too much information! Gives to many things for people to think about. Second, wasn’t this a “prospecting” letter? If so, why would they ask if the reader was having any problems with their message service if they didn’t have the service yet?
Interesting….

I think they thought I used the service…although I could have tried it at some point, or signed up and never used it.

Ya this email just gives that cold chill of incompetence and confusion upon reading it. I’d pass using their services in a heartbeat.

I will definitely lose interest in reading the rest of the message after the word “Grettings”. Also, if I don’t remember subscribing to a certain service provider, I wouldn’t be interested (most probably because I would think that they are just trying to victimize some unsuspecting persons).

In advertising aren’t you supposed to make your company look good. I don’t know why they would spam you to tell you that their service is no good. I guess they are trying to sound like they are at least honest in their flaws… I would not use them.

@gutiar scales : in my opinion the are just trying to start a controverse, and so users discuss about them.. it’s pure strategy…at least that’s how i see the things.
